Beacon students show "Good will to all men"

At the start of advent Ms Ahmed and her tutor group decided that they wanted to honour the principle of 'Good will to all men" during this festive season! They decided to do something positive for people in situations less well off than themselves.

With this in mind, a number of different options were discussed and the students eventually decided to organise a cake sale with the proceeds going to Teenage Cancer Trust and 'Over the Wall' (this is a charity for children with terminal illnesses and the money goes on taking them away).

Ms Ahmed said, "I continue to be overwhelmed by the generosity and kindness of Beacon students. Over the course of two break times, my tutor group raised £89 which is an incredible achievement! The commitment demonstrated by my group over the two days was inspiring; they showed genuine enthusiasm and gave up their time. Lots of them brought in cakes (which considering I have 20 boys in the group is in itself impressive!) and made posters to advertise the sale."

Beacon is a thriving community college with aspirations for young people. This is not a college that stands still. Our students deserve the best if they are to succeed and the college has been through nothing less than a transformation over the last three years in order to achieve that goal.

As the school for Crowborough and the surrounding area we realise that we have a tremendous responsibility to be the best. Whether that be for students aged 11-19, adult learners co-ordinated by us, events such as our sporting work, our youth service or our primary links for gifted and talented, languages, science and sport.
